Formation Stipulations

If you are thinking of joining one of the  formation teams, there are a few things you should know. Formation members are committed to a team. Therefore, if you accept to be a part of the team, you need to realize that you work as part of this group. If you are not committed, then the team cannot function. Full commitment is more important than raw talent. If you are not a team player, you will be replaced by someone who is.  The more experienced the team, the more commitment that is required.  To be fully committed to your team also means that you are not affiliated as either a student or a teacher with any other  Ballroom/ Latin /Cabaret Studio.  This causes conflict which is not acceptable in the Silhouette realm.
As a team player, we need you to adhere to the following conditions:
  1.  Team members are to be at every practice. If they are injured, they need to come and watch and take notes. If you are contagious/sick or out of town, please inform your President and put the date on the Google Doc. Events that just ‘come up’ in your life are not reasons to miss. If a dancer has a job, he/she needs to avoid working during team time.  It is difficult for a team to practice when there are people missing. If you dance on a team, you are required to attend and participate in a technique class every week.
  2.  All performance schedules will be given at the beginning of each semester. These are 1st priorities and should be planned around. If for any reason the date conflicts with a family event that was previously planned, we ask that you inform your president immediately. Please do not plan vacations over performances or competitions that have been long planned. It is not fair to the team that you are a part of to plan something over the top of a selected performance date. It is your responsibility to know when the performances and competitions are. To stay updated on performances, competitions, choreography sessions, etc., please pay close attention to the calendar that is posted on this website, the google doc, emails, and announcements in class. Have questions? Contact your class President, not the Director. If you are missing a performance, you must have your name up on the doc 2 weeks before that event.  Coaches as well as your team need time to prepare a routine for performance and fill your space if you are gone. Youth teams are required to be at 80% of performances.
  3.  If for any reason we add a performance, it will be voted on as to if we can actually take on another performance. If eight couples can do the performance, then it will be selected. If this occurs, at least two weeks notice will be given.
  4. All choreography for teams (both formation & group cabaret) belong to Silhouette.  If you are struggling with technique or anything else in the choreography, you can work with a coach at workshop or set up a private lesson with a Silhouette Coach.  Working Silhouette choreography with a coach outside Silhouette with out Tricia's written consent is strictly prohibited. If you are wanting to perform a formation routine as a solo for a talent show, please clear it directly with Tricia.
  5. All costumes belong to Silhouette.  The fees you pay for costumes assist in some new costume creations, purchases and cleaning only.  You are to treat the costumes with respect and hang them up after use.
  6. Team Members will be asked to follow as well as sign a commitment form that is located on the Registration Page.
